Parenting Values Matter More Than You Think

Happy Thursday! You made it!

We don’t always think much about what we value before having kids. We tend to go with our gut when choosing friends, finding a partner, doing work we love (or at least like), and living life on our own terms.

But then a child or two come along, and suddenly, those values show up in unexpected ways – like debating whether your child can have one more story before bed, walk somewhere alone, or miss school for a big concert.

These decisions may seem small on the surface, but when we dig deeper, they’re actually about what matters most to you.

The good news? It’s never too late to get clear on your values.

One way to start is by identifying your top 10 values – or narrowing it down to your top 5. If you’re parenting with a partner, compare your lists and talk about overlaps (and why). Knowing your values makes tricky decisions a little bit easier the next time they come up.
